Adam Melnick is the current Program Director for the Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario where he is overseeing the design and implementation of two new initiatives, Construction Training & Apprenticeship Ontario (CTAO) and Tomorrow’s Trades. These Provincially funded initiatives focus on the promotion, recruitment, and skills development for individuals to pursue entrance into the construction skilled trades in Ontario. Previously he served various roles for the Heat and Frost Insulators & Allied Workers Local 95 Ontario, including Director of Government Relations, Business Agent and Director of Apprenticeship & Training. He holds a Provincial Certificate of Qualification in Ontario as a Heat and Frost Insulator and a diploma in Recreation & Leisure Services from Sir Sandford Fleming College located in Peterborough, Ontario.

In 2020 Adam was appointed by Minister McNaughton to serve as a Youth Advisor as part of the Provincial Government’s Skilled Trades Strategy. In this role Adam and his fellow appointees consulted with over 400 industry stakeholders developing recommendations to the Minister in response to four main pillars, Breaking the Stigma of Careers in the Skilled Trades, identifying barriers preventing youth and underrepresented groups from entering the trades, Improving Access to apprenticeship and Supporting retention and successful completion of apprenticeship programs.

In 2018 Adam participated in the 2nd Cohort of the Toronto Sector Skills Academy in association with the Metcalfe Foundation and Aspen Institute. Upon completion he has become an Aspen Economic Opportunity Fellow.

Adam is a resident of Durham Region, Ontario where locally he served on the Board of Directors for the Durham Workforce Authority and on Program Advisory Committees for Durham College on skilled trades programs, such as Construction Management Degree Program. In Toronto, Adam is proud to be a member of the Board of Directors for the Toronto Community Benefits Network and in Ottawa Adam is a part of the steering committee for the Ottawa Community Benefit Network. In a national capacity Adam serves on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Mesothelioma Foundation.
