Stuart Bergman is the Deputy Chief Economist and Director of Export Development Canada’s (EDC) Research & Analysis Department.
Mr. Bergman joined EDC in 2003, and has held various leadership positions, including Director of EDC’s Economic and Political Intelligence Centre, Director of Corporate Strategy and Vice President, ESG. Between 2011 and 2016, he served as EDC’s Deputy Chief Economist, representing EDC as a featured speaker at international conferences and regularly appearing on television, radio and in print media.
In his current role, Mr. Bergman oversees EDC’s global markets research, advising senior management and the Board of Directors on portfolio risk management, corporate planning and business development priorities. He also contributes to EDC’s economic analysis and forecasting and country risk assessment.
Prior to joining EDC, Mr. Bergman worked for Zurich Emerging Markets Solutions and the Foreign Policy Institute, in Washington, DC. He completed his graduate studies in International Economics and International Relations at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. He currently resides in Ottawa, with his wife and three children.
