Melissa Atkins-Mahaney is Labour Relations Manager/ Counsel for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 793 (“Local 793”). As Labour Relations Manager/Counsel, Melissa has been intricately involved in all of the legal and strategic decision-making of Local 793 across Ontario and most recently in Local 793’s expansion into the mining sector in Nunavut. Over the past 15 years at Local 793, Melissa’s work has been focused almost exclusively on union-side construction labour relations. Prior to joining Local 793, Melissa worked in private practice, practising exclusively in union-side labour law. She received her BA and LLB from the University of Western Ontario.
